The Certificate IV in Massage is designed for those who are wanting to work in the tourism, hospitality industries and also those wanting to work for other health professionals.

The Diploma of Remedial Massage is designed for those who are wanting to open their own business and employ other staff. Both levels incorporate a high level of clinical practice as well as theory work that will enable you to meet your goals.

Certivicate IV and Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Certificate IV:

This course is part of the Health Training Package and covers the basic level of skill in An Mo Tui Na or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) remedial massage. The skills are taught within an overall TCM framework and holders of this qualification would usually work in conjunction with practitioners of other TCM areas of practice.
Graduates from this course will be able to perform a basic general Chinese remedial massage. Students also learn fundamental concepts associated with the history and philosophy of traditional TCM.
The course covers the diagnostic principles and practical TCM massage techniques. Studies also include western health sciences, such as anatomy and physiology. Clinical management studies provide students with a good grounding in the skills needed to manage a health practice as a small business. Issues relating to professional development and occupational health and safety are also covered.

Diploma:

This course is part of the Health Training Package and covers the Intermediate level of skill in An Mo Tui Na or traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) remedial massage. The skills are taught within an overall TCM framework and holders of this qualification would usually work in conjunction with practitioners of other TCM areas of practice, or in their own practice.
Graduates from this course will be able to perform a Broad level of Chinese remedial massage using approximately 28 techniques covering all bodily sections. Students also learn fundamental concepts associated with the history and philosophy of traditional TCM.
The course covers the diagnostic principles and practical TCM massage techniques. Studies also include western health sciences, such as anatomy and physiology and disease pathology. Clinical management studies provide students with a good grounding in the skills needed to manage a health practice as a small to large business. Issues relating to professional development and occupational health and safety are also covered.

Certificate IV in Myotherapy (Indigenous Communities)

This course is designed for remote and rural learning. It brings the classroom to the community and leaves the classroom behind so that it can be used as a clinic. The participants learn how to run complimentary and allied health clinics by working within one.

Fully accredited and using the Health Training Package as well as the Sports Training Packages, the course content and delivery are dedicated to sensitive learning.

What is proposed is that the Murray College of Health Education (MCHE) conduct classes continuously for 6 weeks then allow 12 weeks on the job training followed by another 6 weeks of clinical education.

This course is specifically designed for participants who are wanting to work in the sport industry as athletes support & young people who are involved in VET for schools.

This course is structured in such a way that participants will gain both theoretical and practical learning. This is to be achieved through classroom-based training and where massage is part of the subject the individuals will be placed in a work environment where they will massage athletes requiring their support.

Where the opportunity to work with athletes is not available, the training environment will simulate the situations where these skills are required and will gain practical experience through simulated activities with other students or volunteers MCHE has available.

These professional level courses provide students with a through knowledge in the practical application of Shiatsu. Graduates will be able to establish a professional practice treating a wide range of common conditions. The skills learned can be easily incorporated into other therapies such as Massage, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Osteopathy and therapies such as Acupuncture and Bowen technique.

Graduates will able to perform diagnosis of a broad range of conditions using knowledge based on Oriental medical theory. This provides the skills to read and assess the true state of a patient’s health using a comprehensive range of diagnostic skills.

This qualification allows the graduate to work therapeutically in diagnosing epistemological causes of conditions such as viral disorders, stress related psychophysical conditions, migraine, anorexia, chronic fatigue, complex pre-menstrual conditions, complex joint problems, digestive disorders, trauma related injuries and rehabilitation.

This is a comprehensive course covering all aspects of the therapeutic use of shiatsu. Graduates of the Diploma of Shiatsu Therapy are competent to treat the full range of conditions, both chronic and acute, that are appropriate for shiatsu treatment.

Graduate therapists are competent in both diagnosis and treatment. They are able to assess the history and causes of conditions, and understand patterns of disease. Graduates are able to use basic counselling skills and recommend lifestyle adjustments to affect long term changes in the individual's health.
